A young man has been captured on tape brutally assaulting his girlfriend because she lied to him regarding her whereabouts.

It was gathered that she told him she wanted to go and meet one of her friends at a particular location at night, but when he went out, he spotted her in a different place.

In a video which has gone viral on social media, the boyfriend approached his girlfriend in rage and began to use his fist on her in public.

Bystanders who witnessed the assault from the environment eventually moved closer to the couple to intervene as the lady kept screaming in pain.
